Hello and Bienvenidos!
Looking to participate in Individual or Family Counseling?
Wanting to collaborate in a space in which you feel heard, seen and safe to be yourself?
Hoping to take the time to invest in your emotional well-being?
Then you have come to the right place!
Here at Life is Beautiful Therapy I specialize in working with Children, Teens, Young Adults, and Families.
Children
Teens
Young Adults
Children: Ages 5-12The best time to start something is now. What greater gift can a parent give a child than helping them build a strong emotional and cognitive foundation from an early age? While parents often focus on providing the best academic environment, therapy is just as valuable in helping children begin to develop their emotional intelligence skills.Typical things that children are seen for ages include: learning how to understand and manage big feelings, feelings of anxiety due to school demands, learning how to form friendships, developing communication skills, separation anxiety, sibling rivalry and so forth.
Teens: Ages 13-17In today's modern world many teens are being proactive/preventative and are advocating for their emotional well-being. Many teens I have worked with have requested from their parents their desire to participate in therapy.Common things that teens may experience in this stage of life include: relationship concerns with family, friends, & first dating relationships, the "spot light effect" (ex. persistent concerns of what others may think of them), beginning to develop hopes and dreams about their future academically/professionally, maintaining grades, body image, self-esteem, stress, anxiety, strong feelings of sadness, dependency on social media/video games, and family conflict.
Young Adults: 18-26"Adulting" can be challenging at times. It takes time, effort, financial resources, courage, vulnerability, and humility to put oneself out there voluntarily to participate in counseling. My hope is that counseling becomes part of one's routine just like going to the doctor for yearly checkups and the gym.Concerns that may inspire young adults to invest in therapy may consist of: feelings of anxiety or burn out with their careers, difficulty selecting a career path, "speed bumps" in their romantic relationships, "quarter life crisis"/existential questions, feelings of loneliness, discovering what their current values are & what gives them purpose in this stage of life and so much more.
Family CounselingEach individual is part of a family system. Consciously and unconsciously each human being is influenced greatly from their family of origin. A child's world is as big as their parents make it for them. Until a person is older or has more autonomy over their life they are taught the beliefs, traditions, world views, cultural teachings, and values of their family. Children additional observe and learn from their care givers coping and emotional regulation skills. Each family is their own unique world; therefore, it deserves to be honored and witnessed.Families choose to participate in counseling for concerns such as: parents wanting to support/empower their children, helping to improve relationships within the household, modifying and improving generational patterns of behavior, learning conflict resolution skills, etc.
Therapeutic
Approaches
Therapy is a collaborative experience in which the therapist and the client form a Therapeutic Relationship/Alliance. My role as a therapist is to create a safe space, practice active listening, be present, empower, and educate. The client's role is to come as they are, express themselves to the best of their current ability, and give therapy an opportunity to be a useful resource in their life.My approach to therapy is Trauma-Informed, Culturally Responsive, and Strength-Based, ensuring that each client feels supported. I additionally incorporate a faith-based approach when a client shares that they practice a faith or religion. Below are some of the Therapeutic Models that I use during sessions.
Therapy Model | Brief Description of Therapy Model Lens |

Brief Solution Focus | Focuses on the "solution" and identifying tools, resources, and skills to help resolve a problem |
Person-Centered | Empowering an individual to know they are the expert of their life. Viewing a person's life holistically. |
Narrative | Each person is the author of their life's story. Everyone has the power to reframe, edit, and write the chapters of their life. |
Family Systems | Helping families to identify, observe, and modify the patterns in their family dynamic |
Play Therapy Skills | Using toys, sand tray, arts & crafts, and games to help a child express themselves and explore their emotional world. |
